What do agents do on a typical day? Well, it’s a bit of a misnomer to think that an agent has a typical day because each one is very different, which is an aspect of the job that many find attractive. Most agents have a list of daily activities that can change at the drop of a hat. However, today I’ll go over the three main activities you can expect to be doing as a real estate agent. This will give you a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in this career.

1. Administrative tasks. Many agents will hire an assistant to leverage those tasks so they can focus on what’s most important: Talking to people or going to appointments and bringing in business.

2. Lead generation. Without new leads, you don’t have a business, so lead generation is a critical part of every agent’s routine. Most agents don’t realize that when you become licensed, you kind of have two jobs—you are a real estate agent that helps buyers and sellers, and you’re a lead generator. To find success in this business, make sure you’re focusing on lead generation for at least two hours each day.

3. Working with clients. This can vary dramatically depending on whether you’re working with the buyer or seller. Working with buyers typically takes longer than working with sellers because more options and variables are involved.
